Install & Update Help

Always remember to backup your database and website files before updating or installing your theme.

Via FTP:

1

Login & Download

Login to your nimbusthemes.com account and go to Downloads, then download the theme.

2

Install via FTP

Unzip the theme. Then, open up your FTP and drop the theme folder directly on top of the old in the directory wp-content/themes/

Via WordPress Installer:

1

Login & Download

Login to your nimbusthemes.com account and go to Downloads, then download the theme.

2

Login to Your Site Dashboard

Go to Appearance >> Themes and delete ALL versions of the theme. You can do this by temporarily changing the theme to a default WordPress theme, then hover on the Nimbus theme and click Theme Details, then Delete in the lower right corner). You MUST delete the old version for the new one to work correctly. Your site settings will be saved as long as you haven’t changed the .php files (in which case, you’ll want to be working from a child theme).

3

Install Theme

On the top of the Themes page, click Add New, then click Upload Theme at the top of the page. Locate and upload the theme (still in .zip format) from your computer and click Install Now. The theme will be installed/unpacked.

4

Activate Theme

Go back to the Themes page and Activate the new theme. You’re good to go!

*If you are planning to make changes to the theme’s .php files, you will want to make sure you are working from a child theme so your changes are not overridden by theme updates. To create a child theme, follow the steps outlined here. You can also use the Custom CSS section in Theme Options > Custom CSS to override CSS elements by entering valid code (the Web Developer Extension on most browsers is an invaluable resource for this).

**If you are using Safari and having problems due to auto-unzipping files, follow these steps to keep your files zipped.

  1. Open Safari
  2. Open the Preferences menu:
  3. In Mac OS X: Click Safari > Preferences
  4. In Windows: Click Edit or Settings () > Preferences
  5. In the window that opens, click General
  6. Remove the check from the box beside “Open ‘safe’ files after downloading”
  7. Download the file again
